Many Samsonite suitcases come with a combination lock feature to provide an additional layer of protection when traveling. These locks are beneficial as they rarely get stuck in airports’ conveyor belts and do not have easily damaged parts.
First, use the default combination of 0-0-0 or the current one if you have unlocked the suitcase before setting or changing the combination of your suitcase. Follow these steps to complete the process:
- Locate the lock mechanism: The suitcase's lock usually has a button, tab, or lever that you have to press or flip.
- Engage the mechanism: Depending on the type of lock, you may need to shift the tab, turn the lever, or even use a ballpoint pen to press the button. Sometimes, you may need to hold the button while doing something else.
- Input your combination: Turn the dials to the desired numeric combination.
- Secure the mechanism: Once done, ensure that you return the tab or the lever to its initial position or release the button as required. If possible, press a large button to confirm the change.
Important Note: Keep your combination secure. If you misplace it, you may need to visit an authorized Samsonite repair center for help.
Additionally, if your lock features a red rhombus shape along and a keyhole, it is TSA-compliant. This means that TSA agents can open your suitcase with a master key during security checks instead of cutting your lock.
